Many Medical Transcriptionists are very much apprehensive about their career with the advent of EHR (Electronic Health Recording). Such apprehension, I would say, is baseless. On the other hand, the dignity and status of adept and competent transcriptionists are enhanced. The companies, which have already introduced EHR, do realize the need to promote more proficient transcriptionists to proofers. Even most of the physicians who are not up to date with technological advancements, struggle with the complexity of their patients’ stories within the check box and point-and-click templates, and they prefer the traditional narrative dictation and transcription.
